How Nu Smile Aligners Work
Nu Smile Aligners work similarly to other clear aligner options. After we verify that you are a candidate for this
treatment, we scan your mouth and plan your treatment. Then, we 3D-print your series of custom aligners. You should
wear each aligner for 20 – 22 hours each day, for about two weeks. As you gradually move through your series
of aligners, your teeth will get closer and closer to their ideal positions.
Throughout your treatment period, you will visit us for periodic checkups. Total treatment time can vary, but 12
– 18 months is average.
Who Nu Smile Aligners Can Help
Nu Smile Aligners can address most cases of mild to moderate dental misalignment. Here are some specific issues that
they may be used to correct:
Crowded Teeth
Crowded, overlapping teeth can pose a challenge for oral hygiene and endanger your smile’s health. Nu Smile
Aligners may be able to shift your teeth in a way that allows them to function optimally.
Gaps Between Teeth
Gaps between your teeth can make you self-conscious about your appearance and leave your gums vulnerable to harm. Nu
Smile Aligners may be able to close those pesky spaces.
Bite Alignment
Issues like overbite, underbite, crossbite, and open bite are common. With the help of special accessories, Nu Smile
Aligners can often correct such problems.

Factors That Affect the Cost of NU Smile Aligners
The total cost of NU Smile aligners can vary from patient to patient. During your consultation, we’ll evaluate
your oral health and design a custom treatment plan tailored to your specific needs. We’ll walk you through
the associated costs and provide an estimate based on factors such as:
- Preliminary Procedures– Some patients may require preliminary treatments like
tooth-colored fillings or gum disease treatment before starting with NU Smile Aligners.
- Number of Arches – Costs will vary depending on whether one or both arches need
treatment.
- Case Complexity – More complex cases requiring significant tooth movement will
necessitate additional aligners, which may increase the overall cost.
NU Smile Aligners vs. Invisalign: Which Costs More?
When comparing costs, NU Smile aligners stand out as a more economical choice. They cost just $3,000 for
start-to-finish treatment. That includes all of the aligners you need to achieve a straighter, healthier smile.
Plus, NU Smile provides regular checkups every 6-8 weeks to ensure your progress is on track. Many other clear
aligner systems, such as Invisalign, can cost upwards of $5,000 for complete treatment.
Of course, we understand that $3,000 is still a significant amount of money. That is why we offer a convenient
payment plan that starts out at just $110 per month. We find that most families are able to fit Nu Smile Aligners
into their budget without too much difficulty.
Does Dental Insurance Cover NU Smile Aligners?
Many dental insurance plans include orthodontic coverage, which can help reduce the overall cost of NU Smile
aligners. While insurance may not cover the entire treatment, it can lower costs for specific parts of your plan,
like the consultation. We’ll work closely with your insurance provider to maximize your benefits and keep your
treatment within your budget.

Nu Smile Aligner FAQs
What Happens After Nu Smile Aligner Treatment?
After completing the last set of aligners in your treatment, you'll visit Dr. G to confirm that your teeth are in the desired, straight position. During this appointment, he’ll explain the maintenance needed to keep your newly aligned smile looking its very best.
Then, you’ll need to wear a retainer to preserve your hard-earned results. You can choose between wire retainers or clear plastic ones that resemble Nu Smile Aligners. Retainers are crucial because they protect your investment, ensuring you can enjoy straight teeth for years to come. Dr. G will advise you on how often to wear your retainer based on your specific needs. Typically, you'll start by wearing it full-time, then gradually reduce to only wearing it at night.
What If My Nu Smile Aligner Broke?
For minor hairline cracks, you can still use your aligner. Just be very careful when taking it out and putting it back in. Apply even pressure when placing it on your teeth and use a flat edge to minimize bending when removing it. Do not attempt to repair it yourself. Using super glue or other at-home fixes can introduce toxic substances into your mouth, posing a health risk.
You should also contact our team immediately for guidance. We may advise you to revert to the previous aligner in the series until a replacement is available. If you are within three days of moving to the next set, we may recommend switching to the next aligner altogether.
To minimize the risk of damaging your aligners, always remove them when eating or drinking anything other than water. Store them in their case when not in use. Clean them with room temperature water, and place towels on the sink or floor to cushion any falls.
Can You Eat with Nu Smile Aligners?
No! Eating with your aligners in can damage them, causing cracks and stains, and it puts unnecessary pressure on your teeth. One significant benefit of Nu Smile Aligners is that they are completely removable, allowing you to take them out when it's time to eat.
The only thing you should consume while wearing your aligners is water. For all other foods and drinks, remove your aligners and store them safely. This flexibility allows you to enjoy all your favorite foods, unlike traditional braces, but always remember to take out your aligners before eating.
Can Nu Smile Aligners Fix an Overbite?
Absolutely! Nu Smile Aligners can correct mild to moderate overbite as well as other bite alignment issues. Of course, there are instances where the overbite may be too severe for Nu Smile Aligners alone.
In such cases, Dr. G may recommend a different orthodontic treatment, like traditional braces, to correct the bite misalignment before moving on to Nu Smile. The best way to know if this treatment can correct your specific overbite issue is to visit a skilled orthodontist or dentist for a consultation. They will be able to recommend the right treatment for your needs.
